Fruity Water

Good morning, almost afternoon, lovelies!

I hope everyone's day is going amazing so far. Easter is soon approaching and I love holidays!  This year I am not going home for Easter. I decided because I went home for reading week and my Mom was here a week and a half ago that I would just stay.  But just because I am not flying home, does not mean I staying alone this holiday.  I am driving to my Aunt and Uncle's house and am actually ecstatic to go visit them.  I love seeing them.  I think it will be good for me to get out of the house and go somewhere new for a bit. My aunt is my Dad's sister, only sister actually out of their large family.

Anyways I thought I would share some interesting facts with you!

  1. Even though, soft drinks, coffee, and tea, are made up of mostly water, it also contains caffeine. Caffeine is a mild diuretic, which prevents water from being used by the body.
  2. Losing 4-5 % of the body water can drop your performance by 20-30 % !
  3. Dehydration or lack of water is one of the number 1 causes of tiredness!
So here is my new favourite way to drink water. It is so easy and tasty. Ready for it...Water with frozen fruit!! You can use fresh fruit too, but the frozen fruit acts like ice cubes and keeps the drink nice and cold. I like to use berries because it releases more of the juices and gives the water more flavour. My favourite part of it all is at the end you get to eat the fruit!!  So delicious!!!!!!!! I really recommend if you are not a huge water drinker and need to consume more water to try this. I know I used to hate water and the taste, which I know sounds weird, but now I love it :)

Do you like water??  What are your favourite kinds of fruit?? What is your drink of choice??

A pretty sweet message my sweet boyfriend took the time to find for me.. okay it took him a minute

I'm so happy and appreciative today, so I would like to just take a minute to thank everyone.  After getting nominated for the Liebster Award, we were shown so much love from fellow bloggers and it means so much.  I want to let you know that we take time to read every single comment, and although we don't always get the chance to respond to them, we appreciate the time you take to leave us a little love on our blog.

To our new followers.. we are SO happy to have you.  It takes me by surprise sometimes to think that people actually care to read what I have to say.  It's such a wonderful and weird feeling all at the same time.  We have some great ideas planned for the summer and when Rach and I finally make it through exams, we will definitely be showing our blog here some major love.

A big thank you also goes out to my cousin, who I recently discovered found my blog! I had mentioned it to her a while back, but she took the time to find it and has been a loyal follower ever since.  We love you.  She's also a computer whiz and she'll be helping me out a little in the future.

You guys are all so special to me, and you don't even know it.  So I figured this quote is very fitting for today.

Happy Monday

Homemade Cadbury Creme Eggs

With Easter soon approaching, flowers will begin to bloom, the snow will melt, bunny-shaped chocolate will be found in the stores, eggs will be dyed beautiful colours, and Easter egg hunts will planned.  Well I hope this happens soon! Easter makes me think of spring, but that means the snow needs to melt!!!  And every time the snow begins melt, the next day it snows again.

Easter brings along one of my personal favourite chocolates I look forward to every year, Cadbury Creme Eggs. As soon as the season is over, I am always sad to see them go from the stores. But I have found a recipe for homemade Creme Eggs that can be enjoyed all year round. And they are very delicious

Homemade Cadbury Creme Eggs

1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup butter (room temperature)
3 cups powdered sugar
12 ounces semi sweet chocolate (Can use any type of chocolate- milk, dark)
Yellow dye
  1. Mix together your corn syrup and butter. Then mix in the powdered sugar. It may become extremely sticky, so put the mixture in the fridge to firm it up.
  2. Separate about 1/3 of the mixture into another bowl and dye it yellow to represent the yolk.
  3. Take the white mixture make bigger balls and the yellow mixture make smaller balls.  Place in the fridge.  Once they are firm, smash the white balls down flat, and wrap the white the “yolks”. Try to form it into egg shapes.
  4. Once again, place them in the fridge to firm up before dipping them in the chocolate.
  5. Melt chocolate chips in a bowl over a pot of boiling water or in the microwave on low power.
  6. Dip the eggs into the chocolate and place on a wax paper lined tray.
  7. Place them in the freezer or fridge so they can set.

I hope you enjoy!

What are your favourite Easter Candies? Do you have any Easter Traditions?

Live the Life you Love

Sometimes I get in these grooves where I just feel upset at everything.  I think I feel as if I have nothing exciting in my life and if I do have something to look forward to I feel as if it is way too far away.   Right now I am in the midst of finishing school, I have 6 weeks as of yesterday until I am done with all my classes and final exams.  My last day is April 29, which is coming up fast, but at the same time is quite far.  As much as I want it to fly by, it makes me nervous because of all those exams. Yesterday I was feeling in a sour mood and I could not figure out why. Nothing would help, until I went to dance class.  Dance always allows me to release all my emotions and bring me to a happy state.  Afterwards I realized I have so many happy things that happen in my life, so this mood I was in was unnecessary. I should be thinking of the happy moments and the little things that I have been presented with over this past week.

So here are all the happy moments throughout this past week.
1. My Mom came to visit me for over a week!  It was amazing to have her here with me. I actually did not her to leave.  As much as I love living with here with my friends, sometimes I do wish I could live with my family.
2.Being driven and picked up from school all week.  I never had to take the bus because my Mom drove.  It was so nice not having to wait in cold weather.
3.Taking a day trip to Michigan to go shopping at Target, Kohl's, Super Walmart, and a few others.  And then we went to Ruby Tuesdays, and I had amazing salmon and the delicious salad bar!

4. Going out for dinner and a few drink with my roommates and Mom.
5. Seeing my Uncle (also Godfather), since he was doing some work in London
6. Going Shopping with my Mommy :)
7. Buying some wonderful teas from Teavana, which I cannot wait to try !!!! And having a tea with Mom.

8. Getting David's Tea free tea on St. Patrick's Day for wearing green
9. Getting a beautiful new jacket!! I cannot wait to wear it.  It is so different and stylish, but also a jacket that I can wear for many years
10. Trying out a new restaurant called Michael on the Thames. It is a lovely fine dining restaurant downtown London and they actually specialize with table-side cooking.  We did not get our entrees table-side  but we did with our dessert. We ordered a Peach and Banana Flambe dessert.  It was simple and light, but so heavenly.  For our entrees we split two items, a veal and a halibut dish.  I loved the atmosphere, the food, and the staff. I will for sure be eating there again!

11. Going downtown to the market and trying the most amazing flavoured coffee.
12. Receiving the administrative director position on the Brescia University College Student Council
13. Going for breakfast at Cora's! So yummy

14. Just watching TV and catching up on our fave shows with my Mom.

This was basically a small recap of my week!  It was special and I was sad to have it end, especially when I had to drop my Mom off at the airport.  It went by quickly and I know that soon enough I will home with my family once again. But for now I am going to enjoy every minute and every day of my life.  Even if it is something small that makes me happy.  I challenge myself and all of you to do little things for yourself that make you happy and think of the good things in your life when you feel down!!

Inspire Monday

First of all, Happy Monday!
This is a question I ask myself so often.  How much of what I do is to try and please other people?  Sometimes I am not too happy with my honest answer.. because it's a lot.  Lately, I've been trying to do things that make me happy.  I really can't tell you how to measure success, because I feel like that's an unmeasurable thing.  Success means different things to everyone.  Today, for instance, success meant changing my google chrome theme to a pretty and sleek white one! hehe. Crazy and silly I know, but it was a small success.   Anywho, I hope you keep this in mind today, and everyday, you're probably not going to succeed and what you really want if you're always trying to please everyone else around you.

Thank you for everyone who has switched over to bloglovin so far, and if you'd like to do so, just click here, we'd love to have you!

Titika Active Wear

Almost St. Patricks Day!!!! Tonight my friends and I are celebrating St. Patrick's Day since it just works better for us. Plus I like Sundays to be a relaxing day of rest and Sunday is the last day my Mom is here :( Anyways, I have the cutest green glasses, shirt and sticker tattoos (I think I am more excited for dressing up, not the actual going out!)

So this week, I discovered this new store called Titika. It is an active wear store, which was founded in Toronto. Two women started this business and as of now it is located in Toronto, North York, Oakville, London and Barrie.

Their Mission Statement is "to empower women with quality, innovative, high fashion active-wear. They focus on being "Inspired by life".

They are environmentally and globally friendly and produce high quality fashionable clothing. Their clothing is very fashion forward and unique. It is even designed right in Canada!

Titika's Design: Function + Fashion = STYLE!

I noticed this store when I went to a local mall here in London and was intrigued, so I went in. Their prices are comparable to other active wear stores, but they had some great sale items. I bought a sweater jacket. I loved the fit, the bright colour, and that it was long enough for my arms ! I love the flowiness with the chiffon material and how it is very breathable. It is different than anything I have and I got an amazing deal on it, so I was extremely happy with my purchase.

So if you see a Titika Active Wear around, I would recommend you to drop in!

Summer Dreamin'

Sorry for the late post today, I have been spending the week with my Mom.  We have quite a bit of shopping and we may have spent a tad more than we intended hehe. I bought some amazing sounding teas from Teavana and I promise to let you all know what I think about each one of them once I try them all!  I also bought some makeup and a new sweater.  Oh yes I got a new bathing suit.  When March comes along all I want is summer to be here!! I could not resist from buying a new one when I went into Victoria's Secret.  They have gorgeous bathing suits and they are all sparkly and bright!  I usually resist from spending full price and wait to buy them on sale, but my mother wanted to treat me!
I thought this bathing suit was so cute and different, so I had to grab it.  It came in an assortment of colours: blue, yellow, pink, and multi-coloured.  I chose the multi coloured, because I love every colour!  So even though it is a little chilly outside this really brought some sunshine in my life :)

Sorry for the shorter post this today and the lack of posts, I just really want to soak in as much Mother and daughter time as possible!!
Can't wait to let you know all about my week!  I have some exciting news!!

Quote of the Day:
This week I was presented with a few opportunities and I was not sure if i could handle both, but when I thought about it I realized nothing is impossible.  I can do whatever I put my mind to.

Broccoli Bites - Getting in the St. Paddy's Day Spirit!

Good Morning my Lovelies!!

I hope everyone is having a great start to their weekend.  I feel Like it has taken forever to get to Saturday, but it is finally here!!  I thought since we are one week away from St. Paddy's day I would share this yummy recipe that has St. Patrick Spirit!  Broccoli Bites!!  Broccoli is one of my favourite vegetables and I have always wanted to try this recipe.  I found a few I liked and then modified them to create my own recipe!

Broccoli Bites

1 head of Broccoli (approx 3 cups)
1 egg
1/2 cup flour (I used  1/4 whole wheat and 1/4 cup all purpose)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup grated cheese of choice (I used marble)
1 clove of garlic, minced
1/2 tsp of salt
1/4 tsp pepper
Olive oil

  1. Cut the broccoli into chunks and cook/steam the broccoli until tender.  Once cooked, set aside to cool.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the egg, flour, the cheeses, garlic, salt and pepper.  Mix well.
  3. Add the slightly cooled broccoli and mash the broccoli.  (You can still have little chunks, it doesn't need to look like a puree.) Once mashed a little bit stir the rest together, so it is fully combined.
  4. Heat oil in a large skillet.
  5. Scoop 2 tbsp size mounds of the mix onto the pan and slightly flatten with a spoon.
  6. Brown the cakes on both sides, around 3-4 minutes each.
You can serve these just as is or with a dip.  I served mine with a lemon dill dip and they were to delicious.

Thankful Thursday #3

It is finally Thursday and that means it is almost the weekend!  I'm ecstatic for the weekend because my Mom is coming down for a whole week!  I can't wait to spend some quality time with her, especially since I won't be going home until May. Anyways, it is thankful Thursday and here is what I have been thankful for this week.

Thursday: Making these delicious sweet potato crisps with a honey Dijon dip!

Friday:  Well there was not too much to be thankful for, except having the whole day to just study and prepare for my exam

Saturday: Being finished all my midterms!! Also, being able to go out with my friends for a fun night of dancing, some events that cannot be named,  and even trying a mcdouble with mac sauce from McDonalds! (I rarely eat at fast food places and haven't from McDonald's for a long long time!)

Sunday: Lounging in my pajamas all day!

Monday: Receiving an exam mark back that I was quite nervous for and doing well!  Also for being able to teach some dance classes again.  The children are so sweet and wonderful to teach!

Tuesday: Going to see 21 and Over, which was a hilarious movie and would be a movie I would recommend people to see if they just want to laugh for two hours.  For being able to eat a beautiful Marble Slab ice cream creation, peanut butter ice cream and cheesecake frozen yogurt with cookie dough mixed in. So amazing and I ate every last bit!
Wednesday: Receiving a purple chocolate heart.  At my school many people are campaigning for Student council this year and one of them was handing out these chocolate hearts.  (I love purple, it even matched my school bag!)

Thursday:  I am so thankful that in two more sleeps I will be picking up my Mother from the airport and giving her a giant hug!

Change your attitude, be positive, be happy.  I know how it can be very hard to be "happy" and have a "good" attitude every minute of the day, but when something happens that may make you down, try to turn it around. Take it and learn from it. Or if you think a negative thought of someone or thing, try to look at the good things about them or it.  Positivity is important and it can make someone else's day. This week I had someone tell me that that I am always so joyful and I told them I just love being happy, and they told me they can tell and think that it is awesome.  When this person told me this, it made my day and made me think very hard how our actions affect others.  I'm glad that my laugh is contagious and that I love laughing.  Laughing is one of life's best medicine and hopefully I can makes other's laugh and smile too.

Bright Skirt

So, I may be coveting one of these skirts.  Okay I really really want one of these skirts. Maybe because of the fast approaching spring season, the cute bright colours, of the freeness of the skirt.  All I know is that if one of these don't end up in my closet soon, I'm going to be very surprised.
